The Herne Bay Open 2018 will take place at the Club from the 6th to 8th April 2018. This is part of the Prince Series and will be the first fully digital squash tournament in NZ. Please enter via iSquash. The tournament will be Par 11 for all divisions and local players may be required to play on Thursday.
Secure your place in the draw by filling in the entry form now! Preliminary rounds will be played Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings or as agreed between competitors. Finals day is Sunday, 15 April, followed by prize giving and barbeque. A rain date of Sunday, 22 April has been set aside.
Conditions of entry are that you must be available to play on the finals day/s, and while we are attempting a full Open and B (S7/D7 and below) senior draw of singles, doubles, and mixed, we may need to run a first-round plate competition for the B comp if the Open entry numbers are low.
Tournament Director's decision on draw will be final and entry fee is a flat $10 for a maximum of three events. Juniors please enter via the form too. If you are ungraded, don't have a partner, enter anyway, we'll sort you out with a seeding and find you a good match for playing partner. Hurry, entries are only open for the next week.
Last weekend saw our annual NZ Racketball title up for grabs, with a slightly depleted field probably due to old age! Some great matches were played and there was no friendship on the court (only off it), and the final came down to Matt Taylor taking on Malcolm Davidson.
On a hot humid Saturday afternoon Matt prevailed in three tightly fought (albeit a little one-sided 😊) sets to take out his third NZ Racketball Title. Congratulations Matt, when you’ve won 10 of them you can keep the cup!
Would you like that old injury to finally get better?
Would you like to minimise the chance of new injuries?
Would you like to get back to being flexible and agile again on the courts?

The series begins in a few weeks time! This series is open for all junior squash players 1500 points and below. If you do not have a grading, but would like to compete, please contact Jarrod. There is a division suitable for all levels under 1500 points, including beginners.
The series will include five junior one day tournaments across four different clubs, including Herne Bay. Proceeds from the series go towards junior squash introduction initiatives. Series ranked players will receive major prizes such as racquets, bags, and more!

Junior Squash continues this Friday from 4pm to 6pm and run by Jarrod van Driel. Junior club night is free for members and $10 for non-members (juniors bring your squash-playing friends — rackets can be provided).
We are in need of Bar Volunteers to fill our roster. The commitment is one night per month, or pair up with someone and do every second month. No experience is necessary and training is provided. This is a great way to "do your part" for the Club. Contact Jacqui in the office if you would like to know more.
The Club has 4 old couches and two Chapel Bar umbrellas that are free to anyone who would like to take them. Please arrange a collection time with Jacqui.
