Kitchen Open Friday Night

With Peter’s departure, Ginny Coubrough has volunteered to occupy the kitchen for club night on Friday, 23rd February. She is looking forward to the challenge and as at time of print the menu is shaping up to include her children’s favourite – homemade lasagna, and for those wanting a lighter option, a Moroccan chicken salad. 

Tennis this week:

HBPRC 2018 Club Champs entries open soon!

The pinnacle of the competitive tennis season looms, and this year we're changing up the format to create a grand final day for both junior and senior club champs. Entries open soon for men's and women's and mixed singles and doubles in both open and B grades. Start organizing your combinations and make sure you will be free for finals day, which is scheduled for Sunday 15 April, with a rain date of Sunday 22 April. Preliminary matches will be played over the few weeks prior, mostly on evenings. Entry details soon.

Senior club night Thursday from 6.30pm

The weather forecast looks promising, so come down and David will get everyone some doubles action.  

Friday junior club night

Junior tennis commences this Friday 9th Feb at 4.30pm to 6pm run by Club Professional David Mustard. Dust off those rackets and enjoy some fun games.

Interclub

Senior Interclub gets underway this Saturday. See here and link on right-hand side of the club website for interclub draws and points tables.

Junior Post Xmas competion begins on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th. Captains please collect balls from the office by Friday.

Sunday senior club day from 1pm

Come down, meet some new people and play some doubles.  Please make yourself know to players when arriving.

Junior term coaching

Junior Club night runs this Friday night from 4-6pm run by Jarrod van Driel.

 1. Please check in on the list upon arrival.

 2. At 4.30pm I'll be doing a coaching activity on court one. This may be split into two groups. Other courts can do king of the court/condition games.

 3. Towards the middle of the session we will move onto a condition games with points.

 4. We will then move on to matchplay. We will run a fun teams league called "Team Battles" so you have a scheduled match for each week. I'll discuss this          further at club night this week and take registrations.

  

On Friday February 23rd we will set up your Double Dot Squash Athletic Testing and Player Profiles if you do not yet have one, or re test your athletic testings if you have done this last year. I'll tell you more about this at club night for those of you that haven't done it before. 

Double Dot squash junior tournament series

The series begins in one month's time! This series is open for all junior squash players 1500 points and below. If you do not have a grading, but would like to compete, please contact Jarrod. There is a division suitable for all levels under 1500 points, including beginners.

The series will include five junior one day tournaments across four different clubs, including Herne Bay. Proceeds from the series go towards junior squash introduction initiatives. Series ranked players will receive major prizes such as racquets, bags, and more!

Maintenance. 

We’ve been busy with some maintenance activities in recent weeks and have more planned. Many thanks to our sponsors City Build Construction for helping with some of these items. 

Works done recently

  • Replaced Squash court lines
  • Installed new code lock on the cleaner cupboard
  • Cleaned out cleaners cupboard ready for new shelving
  • Repair three door locks (office, mens bathroom, gym)
  • Killed wasp net
  • Repaired large pot hole in the entranceway (by Council)
  • Fixed plumbing in upstairs ladies toilet (smell issue). 

Works coming up shortly

  • Install awning above Squash Court 1 fire door for weatherproofing
  • Repairs to two fire doors (deck and Squash Court 1)
  • Drainage installation on North side of tennis court, to prevent our flooding issues. 
  • Carpet repairs in front of the bar.

Court sweeper is available in the cleaning cupboard - please contact office for code.
