The Nation's Best Squash Players - On Show @ HBPRC - Queen's Birthday Weekend!

Herne Bay Ponsonby Rackets Club will be hosting the premium National Squash men’s and women’s teams event next week from Friday 2nd June – Sunday 4th June.

This is the cream of the crop of our nation’s squash players, and a highly coveted event to win. Players are travelling from all over the country to participate with a record 26 teams taking each other on to win a trophy.

And our own Herne Bay Men’s A team are seeded second! It’s been 5 years since we last won it, but with a strong track record and loads of local support we can win it again.

If you’re around over Queen’s Birthday weekend, pop on down to the club to see some amazing squash and cheer on our boys.

And if you have a leave pass, Saturday night we have the Lions opening tour match on TV plus live music entertainment – Racket Abuse are reforming for a one-off gig from 8:30pm! And Sunday night the biggest party of the year -Our ‘Everything British (& Irish)’ theme party ties in with the Lions tour and of course it’s Queen’s Birthday weekend.

See you there!

Other stuff ...

Thanks for your patience with the light repairs on court 3. The problem has required ordering of a wiring part that needs to be fitted into the light tower base. We have been advised this will be available by the end of the month.

Also, don't forget the Pro Shop is your easiest first stop for any accessories or re-strings; contact David for any advice on specific equipment requirements.

Squash Superchamps 2017

Auckland District Competition 8th-13th August

If you are interested in playing Superchamps this year please either register on the form downstairs on the noticeboard by the squash courts or email hbprcsquash@gmail.com with your name, email address, phone number and grade.

The District and National Superchamps events are played to identify the strongest club in the country for each grade. Teams are composed of five players per club that are in the same grade (B, C, D, E and F/J for both men and women). Entries will also be taken for separate B2 & C2 divisions, which will only be played as a regional competition (no National competitions).  At the District Superchamps clubs in a single district play off to find the district champion in each grade. The district champion is then eligible to travel to the National Superchamps finals to play off for the national title. Teams contest ties in round-robin and/or knockout format, with the team that wins three or more matches declared the winner.

To be eligible for the Auckland District SuperChamps, players must have competed in a minimum of THREE competitive matches, with results showing in iSquash on the grading list, between 1st January 2017 and 15th June 2017

It would be great to get the teams together early to start training. Heres hoping we have a few more teams than last year, please come and support the Club.
