Thursday 6th April to 9th
The Herne Bay Open is running this weekend at the club. We have a large number of entries and it will be an exciting weekend. Please come along and support the players, you are welcome to join in the celebrations each evening in the bar.
If you would like to get involved we would love some home baking to sell to hungry squash players in our kitchen throughout the event, please drop it into the kitchen at any time! Much appreciated.
This also means there will be no club night on Thursday.
Please note no courts will be available Thursday after 6pm, Friday after 6pm and Saturday or Sunday.
With the deluge of rain this week the Club has experienced some flooding. We would like to thank those brave members who came out in the rain last night to help elevate and redirect the excess water. The Committee are working on resolving the issue with the help of the Auckland City Council and various contractors, our insurance company and club members.
We are not the only squash club to have experienced this issue last night and we have opened our courts tonight to Masters games while their venue addresses similar issues. Please make them feel welcome if you are at the club tonight.
Hold your next fuction at our club. Conferences, product launches, corporate events, birthday parties, wedding and anniversaries for up to 120 guests.

Yes, the challenging weather season is making its presence felt, but winter Sunday mornings between 10am and lunchtime are usually calm, fine, and a great time to keep the game skills sharp.
Entries are now open for the Senior Winter Interclub comp, which will be played on alternate Sundays from 10am, from May 7 for Singles and Doubles comp, and May 14 for Mixed Doubles comp. Teams are grouped by grade and match formats are two tie-breaker sets, with third set super tiebreak if required. The comp will likely run about eight rounds dependent on total number of competing clubs' teams.
Winter Interclub is a great opportunity to test the waters in competitive team play, represent the HBPRC, and a good off-season prep for Summer Interclub, as well as a good excuse to keep you out playing through the winter.
A change to the competition this year is that all results will count towards Configure rankings points; so you can work on progressing your grading over the off-season!
Email Simon at tennisVP@hernebayrackets.co.nz now if you want to register for the comp or to find out more info if you haven't played interclub before.
Do not delay: we need to have our teams entered by Thursday, April 13!
Please note Junior Squash Club Night this Friday will run from 4pm to 5.30pm. The earlier ending time is due to the Herne Bay Open starting at 6pm. Feel free to stay and watch some games whilst having a drink from the bar. There are some high ranked Auckland juniors playing in this tournament, so please come down and watch if you like.
Junior Squash Jets
The Herne Bay Junior Jets team will be continuing in Term 2, this is a Sunday morning team of three players that competes with two North Shore clubs. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join the team. We would love some new players for our team, you are not committed to every Sunday as we keep a few reserves availalbe.
Congratulations to the Auckland Team!
Congratulations to the Auckland Team who clinched the 2017 Junior Quadrangular tournament in Taupo over the weekend. The team consisted of two of our own Herne Bay Juniors, Riley McCracken and Finn Goodson (who are now the Auckland U11 ranked 1 and 2 players). The team was lead by our own in house squash coach Mike Weston. Congratulations!
