After a slow start with entries, the Herne Bay Open went ahead last weekend with 96 players, which was a great turnout considering other events we were competing against.
The open division was an 8 draw which included 5 of our own A graders, Chris Lloyd, Bryce Redman, George Crosby, Matt Taylor and our newest member Matt Nation. Some great squash was played over the weekend and there was a great atmosphere at the club. The main final on Sunday was a tough match between Chris Lloyd and George Crosby. They battled it out on court but Chris managed to take the win 3-1.
Thanks to all the helpers and the players over the weekend, the tournament could not have run without you. Special thanks to Jason K, Sharon F, Ange Q, Matt T, Brendan T, Dave H, Mark R, Nat S, Nat E, Shelley B, Kelly S and Scott K.
Oh dear! Our winner last week was absent, so our Chapel Bar Vouchers have jackpotted to $150 and will be drawn at 7.30pm tonight. Remember you need to be present to claim your them!
Senior & Junior Club nights will resume at normal times. Cindy Morrison will get you on court for Thursday Club Night.
Tennis drills & thrills will run for half an hour at 6:30pm & 7pm - first in first served.
Will be open from 6pm with burgers and fries. We are also introducing Tacos for those who would like something a little bit lighter.
There are still a number of unpaid invoices for Tennis Interclub & Squash Autumn Pennant & Master Interclub fees. We have recently emailed you a reminder, your prompt attention to settling your account would be appreciated.
Our mixed doubles teams start their competition on Sunday. Jess and Jake's team have an away game at Parnell, while Sophie and Nic's team have a home game against Pompallier. Feel free to come on down and support, and good luck to both teams!
We now need 4 more volunteers on the bar.
We are looking to fill 2nd, 4th, 16th & 27th of each month. The commitment is only one night per month and if you pair up with someone it's only every second month!
This is a great way to 'do your part' for the Club like so many others have before you. If we don't have volunteers the bar is un-manned and this can be a problem when we have visiting teams and events on at the Club, not to mention thirsty members who need a drink!
No experience necessary and all training is provided - plus you get $50 off your membership each year and a few free drinks while you're there! Contact Jacqui in the office if interested.
