Hi all, it's been a very busy few weeks at the Club with squash tournaments and Quiz night but things are settling down now, unlike the weather! Could you please go away rain, so that our lovely tennis players can get some court time?! There's a little hiatus on the squash courts now with Winter Interclub and Masters pausing for breath, but next week it's all back on...

Anyway, here's today's news!

1. July Squash Leagues

2. Pics from our Wimbledon event

3. Photography and Tennis holiday programmes at the Club

4. Quiz night craziness

Don't forget we have a membership offer on at the moment for the Commonwealth Games (see posters at the Club and previous newsletters) and I could do with another couple of bar volunteers if anyone's feeling generous!

Have a great week and stay warm.

July Squash Leagues

Congrats to everyone who has managed to get through their games this June! Sounds like there have been some great battles and a few walkovers... so after that warm up, next month looks like a great line up...

Thanks to those who have signed up for next month's leagues... but of you're jealous of all the leaguers and would like to be part of the cool crowd and haven't yet signed up, you can enter but you need to let me know ASAP (ie by end of play tomorrow - Tuesday) as the new leagues will be out tomorrow night.

Likewise if you are finding it tough to get through your matches and you'd like to take a break, just let me know by EOP Tuesday...

Wimbledon White Out!

A big thanks to everyone who came down to the Club on Sunday week ago for the Wimbledon Mixed Doubles members' event. It was a great turn out again with the weather behaving itself allowing a fun afternoon of tennis - and a few glasses of bubbles on the deck! This year the feathers were flying again, the sequins were shining and the sweater vests came out of the closet for their annual airing. Well done to Brian and Rebecca for taking out a classic final against Tim and Clem, it had the crowd on the edge of their seats…and laughing! Best dressed went to Bronwyn who displayed true Wimbledon/Disco glam and also John Hetet, who still fits in to his college sweater!

Photography and Tennis Holiday Courses these School Holidays

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for your budding photographers! Kendal Mustard is a recent graduate from Elam College having achieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts  specialising in photography and would like to give those interested children, an opportunity to experience the art of photography.

Monday 7th to Wednesday 9th, 1-4pm at Herne Bay Rackets Club. This course is suitable for kids aged 8-12 years. All materials are provided. If you would like your children to participate please email Kendal on: kendalmustard@gmail.com for more details.

Also don't forget David Mustard's awesome holiday programme for kids playing tennis! Running all throughout the holidays from 9am - 12 noon, this will tire the kids out AND get them on their way to being tennis legends. For more details, contact David on david@mustardtennis.co.nz.

Quiz Night

Quiz night last Friday night was a huge success with over 100 people attending. There was hardly anything separating our top three teams but in the end it was Sue Jackson's 'O for Orrsum' team that took the title.

Thanks to our sponsors for their generous donations (Bedford, Pure Food Kitchen and Elbow Room) and we really hope you all come back next time and defend / challenge for the title!
