Cool your scorched summer feet on the cool courts of winter tennis. Things are a bit different over the winter months, so read the detail below and if you're interested just send your details to me on service@hernebayrackets.co.nz.
Comp 1: Singles and Doubles, men's or women's, 4 per team
Comp 2: Doubles Only, men's or women's, 4 per team
Comp 3: Doubles & Mixed Doubles, mixed teams, 4 of each per team (total of 8)
All Winter matches are played on every second Sunday mornings.
Play commences on 11th or 18th May (depending on which competition you're playing in).
The players are signed up, the draws are out, let the competition begin! First rounds of most of the draws will be played this Sunday from 12 noon onwards. You couldn't ask for a better opportunity to come and check out the (on court) talent of Herne Bay members, so come down and spectate, imbibe a coldie and prepare to be impressed...

There's something in the water for our tennis players at the moment with recent news of member Mike Silva's success at the NZ Masters Games held in Dunedin last month. The Masters games is huge with over 3,500 people competing in over 60 different sports.
Mike managed to win two Gold medals - one in the Men's 50's Singles and the other in the Men's 50's Doubles. Just to show off he added a Bronze medal in the mixed doubles 50's in the Badminton. Fantastic effort Mike!
Members please note that there will be a private function held at the Club tomorrow from 5pm onwards. The upstairs lounge/bar area, BBQ and all tennis courts are booked. However, they have been generous enough to allow members to use the lounge but please respect their space as they are paying for exclusive hire.
