Could there be a more lovely night for a hit of tennis? A more perfect setting for a BBQ? A better set of glass-backs for squash? Cooler/cheaper beers? No? Then I guess we'll be seeing you at Club Night tonight! Tonight will be our last free summer BBQ but don't despair, there are some exciting things planned for the kitchen this year to keep those athletic tummies full.
Just one news item today... but it's a goodie.
Have a great week and see you on court soon.
Sophie, Club Manager
A huge congratulations to David and Jacqui Mustard who represented New Zealand in the 2014 Oceania Seniors Claycourt Championships over the weekend. The tournament was played in Melbourne at Kooyong, the former home of the Australian Open.
As if representing NZ wasn’t enough, David made it to the Semifinals of the singles in the 55+ category only to lose to the top seed AND World No.1!! He then went one better the next day making the Finals of the men's doubles, only to again go down to the no. 1 seeds. Well done David!!
And not letting David take all the limelight, Jacqui lost in the quarter finals of the womens 50+ singles and then semifinals of the doubles. The points earned from this event means Jacqui now has a senior world ranking! Way to go Jacqui!
They take on the rest of the world again in Florida in April so we wish them luck for their next event – go the Mustards!
