Tuesday, 25th February will be our Annual General Meeting (AGM). We encourage as many members as possible to attend and actively participate. This year we’ll be looking for some new committee members as well as re-electing existing positions. If you have a hankering to be part of the management of the best sports club in the world, you’d better get your election campaign started! Just kidding, make yourself known to me (Sophie) or elbow a fellow member and get them to nominate you.
More details including positions and nomination procedures will be out soon.
Squash NZ have now made the change to the combined grading list for all members. For all information as to how this might affect you as a squash player, please read this article: www.squashnz.co.nz/news/index.cfm?content_id=1082. Personally I think I may have gone up a whole letter despite not having been on court for months! Woohoo.
This new system aims to create a fairer benchmark standard across the men's & women's grades and create more variety and competition for players. Squash Auckand and individual clubs will soon be making decisions on the combining of interclub and tournament divisions - we will keep you posted.
Been watching some doubles action on tele and fancy yourself as the next Bryan brother (or sister)? Join in to the doubles tournament happening at the Club THIS Saturday, 25th Jan, 9am to 2pm. It will be a Tie Breaker Tournament - best of 5 x 12pt tie breaker sets. You'll be guaranteed 3 matches, lunch and prizes. Both men and women can play in any combination but must be of competitive standard.
Entry fee is $30 and you can enter with a partner or request a partner. RSVP's and queries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I reckon four people on a squash court is a recipe for disaster! But there are some crazy fools out there who reckon they can do it, and do it well! Good for them… let’s have some competition - 21/22 Feb. Entry $70 per team – cash prizes guaranteed. There will even be a chance to celebrate this craziness with a Saturday night BBQ and Live Band “Three 0”.
Mixed Divisions with any team combination - seedings will be taken from the new combined grading list - can't be 2 men's A-grade players. Entries through iSquash or email email@example.com. Closes Friday 14th Feb.
All players and non-players welcome, come up to the club and celebrate the start of the squash season with some entertaining squash, awesome Saturday night live music, great mates and good times guaranteed!
See below our flash poster which you can forward to friends and family who might be interested in joining...
Prices are going up. Just a little - we're still the cheapest in the hood. This will take effect from Monday next week. Dust off the 20c pieces in the glovebox!
Ask about our fun tennis/squash tournament packages. A few hours of tennis or squash, a few drinks in the sun, fire up the BBQ / get it catered, put the Aussie Open on the screen plus a quick prizegiving... what could be a better start to 2014? We can tailor something to your needs. Be quick as our available dates are going fast.
Ladies Wed 12th Feb and Seniors Sunday 16th Feb. If you haven't played a 'DnA' it's a very fun, very sweaty event that will really add value to your net play (well it's helped my game anyway, but I'm at the wrong end of the grades!!). I'd encourage newbies or those who want to hone their skills to join in. You'll need a big pint of beer and a lie down afterwards.
Look forward to seeing you here, soon!
