Our top men’s squash team (George Crosby, Chris Lloyd, Matt Taylor, Bryce Redman, Jared Conning and Nick Wilson) are in Palmerston North this weekend to compete in the Cousins Shield New Zealand’s Club Championship – it’s the country’s most prestigious club competition and has been played since the 1950s.
We’ve had a great record over the last decade winning in 2008, 2010 and 2011 and we’ve been runner-up on five other occasions.
Many of you will remember the hosting the tournament in 2010 and 2017 – it’s top squash and a fun social atmosphere (to say the least). This year the boys are seeded third – and while there are a couple of tough teams seeded higher – we’ll be fighting for every match like we always do.
Stay tuned for updates across the weekend via the club Facebook page.
Senior club night starts at 6.30pm on Thursdays. Come along and meet fellow club members.
Join Jarrod and his team on Friday nights from 4pm to 6pm for coaching, fun games and just a little bit of competition.
The 2019 National Finals will be held from 25-28 September at the following venues;
B Grade – Whakatane Squash Club
C Grade – SquashCity Invercargill
D Grade – Whangarei Squash Club
E Grade – Tawa Squash Club (Wellington)
F/J Grade – Cambridge Rackets Club

This is a great starting point for both new and experienced players to ensure you can be confident of the rules.
All players competing in competitive play such as interclub and tournaments are expected to have completed and passed the exam.
The exam consists of 50 multi-choice questions and can be fully completed online through the Squash NZ website. The Club Referee qualification is valid for two years from the time of completion. Both players and non-players are able to complete the exam.

This Queen's Birthday weekend the club is proud to be running the inaugural Geoff Godden Memorial Open mixed doubles tournament.
The one-day tournament is now scheduled for the rain date of Monday, June 3, starting at 10am with finals scheduled for around mid afternoon.
Sponsors Ponsonby Physiotherapy have donated a generous prize package that will be augmented by a cash pool, and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Mercy Hospice.
Many of you have already entered but last minute inquiries can be emailed to Simon at tennisvp@hernebayrackets.co.nz. Spaces are limited though and the draw will be emailed to entrants by Sunday, 2 June. All welcome to come along and wath the games on Monday, the forecast looks good for a clear winter day.
The annual Roland Garros French-themed social tennis event is just around the corner! Clear your calendar for next Saturday 1–4pm and sign up for this fun afternoon of social tennis that coincides with finals weekend at Roland Garros. As usual there will be prizes for best-dressed as well as competition winners. Entry is open to all grades and abilities, and please do opt in regardless of whether you play competitively or not, this is a social event where there is as much emphasis on the costume you create to play in as the time you'll spend on court. Send entries to Simon at tennisvp@hernebayrackets.co.nz. Tournament fee $15, food provided.
Results are in from the HBPRC representatives who competed at the Fiji Open. The event was a great success and we hope to take an even bigger contingent over next year. Overall, we did really well and the week was a great challenge to take on.
